Sounds like someone hit a 3 for the last number instead of a 6, If it is old then could have been a 33 Winchester, Marlin made them in an 1895.

I did a few searches on GB last night and found no 333 in leverguns. Lots of sport carbines, however. Must be a typo.

336SC ;
1. has 20" barrel
2. 3/4 mag
3. no barrel bands
4. pistol grip stock
5. just like old style 336A , except has 20" instead of 24" barrel
6. were not drilled and tapped for scope bases until the late 50's
7. made from 1949-1963
8. started drilling and tapping for scopes in 1957
9. started micro groove rifling about 1955 or 1956
10. was chambered in three standerd calibers ; 30-30, 32 Speciel and 35 REM
11. also a short run with a heavier barrel in 219 Zipper, the 219 is nothing more then the 30-30 necked down to 22 cal

It has been my experience with these rifles , that they shoot very well . I have shot the 30-30 , 32 and 35 quite a bit. Also have a 219 that I've yet to shoot .
