a 336 is a 336 as far as I know. The mechanics are the same for all. So yes it will. Chamber will be different for different calibers, but action is basically the same for all.

From Coyote Hunter at Graybeard Outdoors

Don't know about the "AW", but the basic differences in the current production models are as follows:

336A
Walnut finished cut-checkered hardwood with pistol grip.
Blued steel fore-end cap.
Swivel studs.
Hard rubber butt plate.
Screw-adjustable open rear, brass bead front sight with Wide-Scan™ hood.

336C
American black walnut pistol grip stock with fluted comb and cut checkering.
Blued steel barrel band with integral swivel stud.
Rubber rifle butt pad.
Adjustable semi-buckhorn folding rear, ramp front sight with brass bead and Wide-Scan™ hood.

336W
Walnut finished cut-checkered hardwood with pistol grip.
Blued steel barrel band with integral swivel.
Hard rubber butt plate.
Padded nylon sling.
Gold-plated steel trigger.
Screw-adjustable open rear, brass bead front sight with Wide-Scan™ hood.

OEM Branded Models:
Marlin has also made a number of these lever-action rifles for mass marketers like Sears, Western Auto, K-Mart and Wal-Mart. These models have walnut-stained hardwood stocks (as opposed to American Walnut stocks) and were sold for significantly lower prices than standard Model 336's. Mechanically identical to the Model 336, these rifles were sold under the names Glenfield, Glenfield Marlin or Marlin as Models 30, 30A, 30AS and 30AW. The Model 30AW package includes a gold-plated steel trigger, 3-9x32 factory-mounted scope, padded sling and offset hammer spur. It is identical to the current Marlin Model 336W.

Here is a little more info

From: http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/marlin/108952-marlin-house-brand-conversion-chart.html

Marlin House-Brand Conversion Chart
This is everything I've compiled so far on Marlin House-Brands.
Many mail-order & chain stores sold a variety of Marlin firearms under their own names & their House-Names.

Glenfield was Marlin's secondary House-name, all Glenfields are Marlins.
Kind of like how major MFR's today make Non-Brand stuff for Walmart.

It seems to me that "what we have here is a failure to communicate." Your question: :
Is the manual for the 336 the same manual for the older 30AS?
The answer (as I understand it) is "yes" because a 30AS is a 336 with a less exotic wood stock. The mechanisms are identical.

I have a Marlin 30AS and 336. And the only difference is the wood in the stock (one is Beech stained to look like walnut and the other is solid Walnut). I like them both. Both are very accurate. But for field work, I use the 30AS and use the 336 sparingly so as to keep it in nice condition. I know...what am I saving it for? Some day my nephews will want it no doubt. I just love lever action rifles. Must be the cowboy in me.
