hey guys went out to shoot the new rifle today...the scope was way off...so i took it off...shot a couple rounds thru the iron sights and it was perfect..went inside and took the scope off....i had the action open of course....

when i got the scope off...now the lever is stuck open!! it is stuck...i cannot close it at all....i got it sitting in some clp right now...any ideas....would it be because i too the scope off that its doing this?

that dont sound right

ok i figured out what was wrong...the little screws that hold the scope rings in the top of the reciever!!

when i took the rings off...i ran the screws back it...which apparently would let the lever swing...

but now i took them all out...works flawlessly ....

but now my other problem is i now have 4 small holes where the screws went it...what do i do? i know that if i dont screw them in all the way it would plug the holes...but then they stick up a little bit...dont look nice

any suggestions?

Add a little loc tite to the screws and run them in til flush check the lever each screw.

The screws can be removed by applying a little heat from a soldering pencil if you want to scope it later.

Be sure to dry the threads and the clean the holes with some sort of solvent.

i thought about running to the local hardware store and finding the same screws, but really short...then i can run them flush and they wont hit the lever

If you have a place near you that mounts scopes for customers, then that place will probably have lots of the kind of screws you need.

Were the screws you put back in the original reciever filler screws or scope mounting screws? Scope mount screws would most likely be a bit longer and if seated flush may still jam your bolt in the lever open position. You can probably get Marlin reciever filler screws at Midway USA, Brownells, or Numrich. ;)

Brownell has stainless; but blue ones are out of stock. MidwayUSA is out of stock but a notation shows they were due in on 4/17/2011, so you could call them
