For me, this was fun. The powder, bullets and general loads were all very accurate.

308MXLR (24inch) 41.5gr. gave 2580fps. One hole accuracy. Factory gave right at 2500. All done at 30 degrees Able to achieve advertised velocity (2650fps) with the Hodgdon max (42.6gr). That was not quite as accurate, and showed sticky lever.
150gr. Speer gave 2680fps at max (Hornady's)
170gr. Core lokt gave a one hole group at 41.4 that also gave 2580fps.

This round will show pressure signs on the 42.6gr. that Hodgdon lists. No matter, its easily enough to get past the factory load with the 41gr. Also an equally impressive load that beats the factory stuff. Did not have an inaccurate load. Most accurate was probably the Core lokt bullet.

30-30 (18.5inch) BL : Factory was just under 2300fps I used Winchester brass.

160gr. FTX and my gun was right where Hodgdon claimed, (2380fps) and 35.5gr. No pressure signs at all on any of these
150gr. Speer 38.5gr. gave right at 2500fps
170gr. Core lokt gave 2340fps with 36.3gr.

It appears that the LVR powder may be the berries for the 30-30. If I could ever find a pound I'd try it.

Ok, now if I could get my hands on a lb of that fancy trick powder, that would be nice.

Or, I could just continue to use what I'm using now. Perfection is the enemy of good enough.

I've previously used 748, Varget, 3031, both 4895's, BL-c(2), 2230 etc. and gotten good performance. This powder is in another league. I'd go so far as to say I didn't bother reloading my 308MX because I didn't want to step down in performance. One big difference over my previous fav (BL-c(2), is temperature sensitivity. Fluctuations of 120fps were common between working up and hunting temperatures... I'll finish that pound on my plinking and go to this LEV. I've bought and gone through 3#. Guess I should just buy 8 and be done with it for a while.
