Hello I just purchased 300 sav dies and would like to know some favorite loads and lengths COL for my 99. Right now I have 3031 powder and 150 gr boolllits in boat tail and hornady 150gr sp interlock.

COL will depend on whether your rifle has the early 2.6" magazine or the later .308 length magazine(2.78) both rotary carrier style, the 99C removable magazine was only '308 length'. My 99's all have longer throats, with cartridges that work through the magazine restricting length rather than having bullets bump the rifling, your may be different. I haven't used 3031, mostly 4064 and now Varget for 150's and Reloder 15 for 165's and 180's. Nothing wrong with 3031, just haven't tried it in the .300S. I have shot antelope with the 150 InterLokt and the 150 Speer BT. Both worked fine but antelope are not big. Many 300S have generous headspace, use Redding Competition shellholders to set die headspace or carefully adjust dies to avoid excessive resizing to extend case life.

Set dies so case will just chamber.
130 TSX with 4198 will touch 3000 fps in a 24" bbl.
Kills Elk deader than dead.

H4895- 150gr Hornady made for 300 savage. Don't remember product number but the bullet is on their web.

This is murder on whitetail...
and one of the more accurate 300 Savage loads
i've tried.

150 gr Hornady SST (the one expressly meant for 300 Savage) and VV N140.

My grandfathers M-99EG will place 3 holes touching using 41.5 of IMR 4064 and the Remington 150 gr core-lokt. The old Savage "Cut rRfled" barrels shoot pretty darn good.
