It would be even more impressive if those figures were taken
in a 20" barrel. Most factory ammo will not achieve the velocities that are listed in a regular firearm because of a few reasons. One being none standard barrel lenght. Another is getting readings out of a test barrel that is non standard.
I would guess in the real world, velocities are probably 100fps less than advertised.
Couldn't agree more...Why can't they advertise real world ballistics. Had to zero my Fed. 125 gr at 150 yds to get an acceptable "kill zone" from 100 to 200 yards(+/- 3.5")...but the factory claims a hit a 3" hi at 100 will give you a zero at 200!!! Try a 12" drop between the two...If they advertised reality it would scare away alot of customers...too bad...the 30-30 can stand on it's own merits....even though it has a trajectory like a softball pitch!
