just picked up a 336 W yesterday and have the brass going in the tumbler.
if any of you guys have a fav. load work up for your marlin it would be a great help.
I have rem 150/170 gr bullets and IMR 3031,4064 and 4895 on the bench.

txpete,

My M336 30/30 likes 31.5grns IMR4895 with a 170grn bullet for accuracy but also loves 32.0grns AA2460 for speed too (Ken Waters Pet loads).

For a 150grn bullet, 35.0grns W748 is hard to beat for both accuracy and speed but have had some accurate loads with mid range loads using IMR3031 or 29.7grns H322.

IMR4064 is one of my favorite powders for other rifles but have not used much of it for the 30/30 except with the 173grn lead gas check, and there it's one of my favorites.

When I worked up loads for my 30/30, I used older data than you can get today but it seems to me like the old IMR powders you have should work just fine after you find out what your rifle likes. BM

The max in the Alliant handbook works well in my 336A: 34.1 grains of RL15 under a 170 grain Hornady flatpoint. Work up from 10% below, due to variations in individual rifles, brass, primers, etc.

Well my favorite load uses a 130 grain Speer flat point, but in the 150 grain, I like a load of 29.0 grains of H335. This runs around 2,000 fps in my gun.

been working the past 3 weeks on the best load for my 336, most
accurate I came up with is IMR 3031 @ 28 grns, for hornady 170
grn bullets.

Hey, Txpete, My favorites are W748 at 35 or 36gr. WLR primer, Win brass, 34gr. Varget (cold winter load), WLR primer, and BL-C(2) at 35gr. All are accurate and safe in my gun, although they should be worked up to. I use a 170gr. Corelokt bullet and get good accuracy, although I have more accurate non-hunting loads. I like shooting IMR 3031 at about 23gr. with a 311041 cast bullet for plinking. Very accurate in one of my guns and almost non-existant recoil. Have fun. One of the best for a plinking cartridge that is accurate.

My Marlin 336 and my Win. 94 Saddle Ring Trapper are very accurate using the Sierra, or Speer, 150 grains bullets with 36.0 grains of IMR 4064.
