265 Flat Point on back order again at Midway

I ordered several boxes of 265's about 9 days ago from Midway and the weather has held them up but I should be receiving them tomorrow. While browsing Midway I notice that the 265's are again on backorder. Boy they didn't last long did they.

It's such a good bullet. I was too slow to get any. Just the other day I worked up a new load with that bullet and it'll shoot about .8 in my XLR. I hope they keep cranking them out.
Natchez Shooters Supplies had some late last week but they are sold out now also! Glad I ordered when I did, just didn't order enough.
It's like the 338 brass. I got 3 boxes of the 265's when I got the product notice, but I opened my e-mail the end of last week and saw they had 338 ME brass. I was in a hurry that day, and put it in my shopping cart. When I got back to it later that day, it was again on back order. I won't do that again. When I get the notice, I'll be pulling the trigger from now on.
I'm not going to go back to Midways web site but I think I saw where next shipment of the 265's would be in the year 2012. That seemed kinda strange.

Horseshoe, I just went and looked again and didn't see anything about a "promise" or "expected" date other than on back order? Was it a message somewhere or a banner flashing? That seems really strange to state next shipment would be in 2012!
I went back to Midways web site and clicked on the 265 bullets like I was getting ready to buy and it says next expected shipment date 1/26/2012. Strange indeed and a little scary.

Click on the bullet like you are going to put it in your cart and it will throw up the Add to Cart and on that page under Status it says "Expected in stock 1/26/2012. I've always called the Interlock Flat nose a flat point. The 265 grain Interlock Flat Nose is what I am looking at.

Thanks for the feedback. Not a good story if true! Time for me to get acquainted with replacements. ;D
Sure enough! and there boys and girls is where a forced demand for a certain product will add another 5-10 bucks to the box of same old bullets. I realize that we are involved in a war here and there and it seems damn near everywhere and metals are in high demand, but I think I waited 9 months for these to come around and I said I wasn't going to get any...I lied   and bought a box of 100 of them, I'm set that gives me 450 in stock and that'll be more than I'll need ever! It took 2 1/2 years to get them 450 in stock, so for me, I am done with Hornady and the waiting game, I wish them continued success. Damn shame though, they can't keep up with such a good bullet. Mr fixit
This is gunna push me into casting sooner than planned. Not a bad thing I know, just wasn't really ready to make the leap. There will always be jacketed bullets available for a price but getting a reliable source means tons to me.

I'm gunna get familiar with Ranch Dog molds soon.
I have a few thousand 240 gr cast for plinking and practice. I also bought 500 Rem 240 gr jsp a few months ago in a Midway sale. Those should work for deer and most anything in CONUS east of the Big Muddy.

My 2 boxes of Hornady 265 will last a long time if they are just used for hunting big hairy stuff. You guys can have the rest...when they make more. If I ever decide to go bigger, Beartooth 290 gas checks are on the menu.
mogwai, The Beartooth 290s are becoming the go to bullet in my .444. I have to give the 290 a A+ rating. I have not used them hunting yet but only expect the best from them. Plain on trying them on a hog hunt Monday if I get one will give a report.
I just ordered 5 boxes of them yesterday from Midway. They were back in stock then.
You are exactly right. I just went to Midway's web site and they list them as available and under the Status it says they should ship today. This is good too know because they said next shipment 2012 when I looked at it the other day. Kinda confusing when they are there one day and out the next. Maybe they can keep them in stock I hope.

The postman just delivered 2 boxes that had been on backorder since January, 2010. Combined these with the box I found in Montana last summer and the one I got from MidSouth, and I feel well supplied.
Sounds like you are rigged up and ready to go. I have 3 to 4 boxes amd wonder if I need to get more.

I'm not happy if the "stash" gets below 500...

Slow and steady, patient and vigilant...

700+ right now, and I feel comfy.

Do you also own dozens of pot-bellied pigs and a gross of cats? http://www.animalhoardingproject.com/

;D ;D
I sit smugly, in amongst my collection of bullet molds, wheel weight buckets and pails of bullets. The Ranch Dog molds whisper in my ear, "you'll never walk alone, you'll never walk alone." I sigh, for I am content.
