I have an late 80's 25N that has a smooth wood stock. I need to replace the stock because I have has issues with it when the seasons change. I got a 25N/880 stock from Numrich. Once I mounted the action into the stock I noticed the Safety is not cut the same as the old stock and the clip mag guard is different to the point that the original one will not work. Has anyone else tried this conversion? Do I have to notch the stock for the safety? Will I need a mag guard from the 880 to make it all work? I have not used the gun in 20 years since it had this stock issue and I bought a 7000 to replace it. I would like to resurrect it for my kids to learn to shoot on and wanted some advice before I go and notch a new stock.
