I recently purchased a 1985 (Serial 15816) Marlin 39A. All of the parts lists I have found show 2 screws on top of the receiver for a scope mount. Mine just has a single set screw. Also, they all show a cross bolt safety, mine doesn't have one. I would really like a pdf of a correct parts list for mine.
Your serial number is not right for a 1985 manufacture... It must have an 8 digit serial number... If it does have an 8 digit, post it like this, Serial 1581XXXX... Post up some pics of the rifle...
Also, your other post shows what I think is a 1930's rifle...
Thanks, Scorpiusb. I believe you are correct. On second look I think it is a 1945 rifle (see attached). This is what I would like a parts list for. Not a website, a downloadable pdf. A pdf copy of an original manual would be cool, too.
That's a 1945 39A with a large C. I have a 1946 39A with small c. But I could also have a 1945, since the "c' looks the same.
Just for comparison, here is my Marlin 39A
I took stock off for the first time. original stock. matching serial #

A good penitrating oil on the threaded end of the screw and let it sit for a few days. I used Kroil on mine and it finally broke loose.
