Was 1983 the first year for the crossbolt safety in the 39A, I'm pretty sure it was in the 1894 and 336. Anyone know for sure? I used to own one with 17XXXX serial number, with a safety, but it was stamped 39AS, and was also stamped "Original Golden" on the barrel. I also once owned a 30AS from 1983, also with the crossbolt safety. Sure wish I had that one back.
