A guy close by has a1974 marlin 336 in 35cal and wants to trade for my ruger single six. The ruger is a great little gun just wondering if it would be a good trade. Thanks for any advice.

Probably a fair trade. Does the single six have both cylinders? With both cylinders they go around $350 in good shape here.

Depends on A) how bad you want it, and B) what the market is like in your area.

Around here, a good pre-safety 336 can still be found for under $300 with a bit of patient searching -- sometimes well under. A good friend bought a 1971 336 just a few weeks ago ("closet-abused" and showing lots of dust, a few dings, and some areas of very light rust, but mechanically as-new) for $150. A good Single Six will bring twice that, at least.

I have both guns, a Ruger Single Six and a 1974 336 in 35 Remington. Is your Single Six a convertible and is it stainless? I know they are going for a good bit more than I would pay for the 1974 336.

If I was you I'd keep the Single Six and buy the 336 as well.
