This Marlin 39-A has a D suffix so I'm thinking it is a 1947 model. After looking at other 1947 models, I cannot find one that has the diamonds in the forearm and the shield plate in the stock. Was this a special option by Marlin or was it done by a gunsmith? This Marlin has a lot of sentimental value. It was the first rifle that my dad ever shot and belonged to my uncle. Thanks for any information! image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Was not done by Marlin. Someone just wanted to dress their rifle up a little.
