This Marlin 39-A has a D suffix so I'm thinking it is a 1947 model. After looking at other 1947 models, I cannot find one that has the diamonds in the forearm and the shield plate in the stock. Was this a special option by Marlin or was it done by a gunsmith? This Marlin has a lot of sentimental value. It was the first rifle that my dad ever shot and belonged to my uncle. Thanks for any information!
