Looking to buy a 1895XLR in 45-70. I already have a Ruger #1 in the same caliber but like the lever action.
My question is the Marlin strong enough to handle the +40k pressure handloads that I use in my #1.

ya you might as well just sell that measley little capgun to me for say about couple hundred. that'd make a nice down payment on a ruger. ;D

Not on your life buddy. :D This is by far the best rifle I have ever owned. I was tempted by the Ruger #1s. They are great guns. I just like the Marlins better.

Agreed....if you want 458 WM performance get a 458 WM. I like my 1895 XLR just fine ;D
