I have a 1895 STBL. I was following Marlinman's thread on disassembly & cleaning as a guide to replace the plastic mag follower with a metal one.

But at step 22 my tube would NOT come away from the barrel. Eli Chaps mentioned driving out the dovetail stud and that's how I had to get the tube off the gun. The plug or end cap doesn't come off the tube. I'm not sure if this is just more of Marlingtons sloppy assembly or if this is the way its designed to be??? It almost looks like the tube assembly might have just been knocked into place and now I need to modify it? Any ideas? Is that lip supposed to hold the plug in the tube???

I'll try using a wooden dowel to drive the plug out. The hole on the tube is just a hair off. I'll dremel it a bit and get it to fit.

So am I. Thanks for the help! While I've got it apart I'm going to do a little action work. Your thread about that has been most helpful. I owe you a brewski.
