I just found an excellent 1894S in .44-40. Serial # begins 4440###.
It has the crossbolt safety so I'm assuming it is an 80's gun.
How many of these were made and what kind of price are they bringing these days?
Thanks!

Can't remember exactly but either about 875 or 925. I get it confused with the number of 1894's in .45 Colt made. Parley

Here is a small web apge I made up several years ago with the information from the Marlin Collector's Assc. It needs updated pretty bad, but it will ansewer your question on the 1894S in 44-40.
http://www.lts.net/~aw/homepage/1894stats.html

There were 875 produced in 1993

The email address on that page is wrong. I dont' have that IP anymore and can't get access to delete it from the net. If you have any additional information, just send it to me through this site. I'd be greatly appreciative and will share it with everyone I can. Thanks!

They did the centenial model wlith factory engraving and select wood in 44-40 as well as the employee model with factory engaving, select wood and gold enlays. Put some pictures of the centenial model in the Gallery.
