I have 2 1894cls, one in .25-20 and one in .32-20. I thought that they only put these calibers out as part of the classic series, but one of them does not have the cl as part of the serial #. Am I mistaken in my assumption, or was there another run of these guns made outside of the cl series?

Something similar has come up fairly recently. I can't remember exactly what the SN discrepancy was, but there is definitely something squirrelly going on with CL serial numbers. Somebody with better information will be along shortly.

Different runs. One used CL in the serial number and the other the regular Marlin numbers.
