1894CL "CLASSIC" 25-20 WIN

Working out of town and this is what I found. 1894CL 25-20 WIN. Ducks Unlimited emblem in stock. Serial # starts with 10. Appears to never been shot. Have been doing some research on this site about this gun but any info you may have about the 1894CL would be appreciated. THANKS

It is a ducks unlimited gun from a DU dinner. Nice rifle.

Re: 1894CL "CLASSIC" 25-20 WIN

Here's what I found but have a few questions if anyone knows.

1894CL made from 1989-1994. This one has a serial number starts with 10 so was made in 1990.

Found that in 1992 Marlin made 1800 1894CL 32-20's Ducks Unlimited Special Edition
Found in 1993 Marlin made 100 1894CL 25-20 NRA Special Edition
Found in 1994 Marlin made 350 1894CL 218 Bee NRA Special Edition

This one made in 1990. Is it safe to assume that Ducks Unlimited called Marlin and had them throw some 5 cent DU emblems on some 25-20's in stock and ship them out to give away at there dinners? And these were just not cataloged? Or that may be someone had a DU emblem and put it in a 1990 25-20?

How many of the 25-20's are out there?
Any place to get factory ammo for them reasonable? See there is brass available but I don't reload as of yet.
I usually don't have guns that I don't shoot but this maybe one of them because of ammo cost or maybe I made a mistake when I bought it and should of checked into ammo cost before :) Oh its a Marlin I know I didn't make a mistake. This may just end up being a safe queen!

I actually had to look up the 25-20 to learn what it was. That's definitely something a little different: cool piece.
Congratulations! So, are you going to shoot it? I know I would. ;D But I'm not a collector.

My 1990 1894CL 25-20 is not a Ducks Unlimited gun but is definitely a shooter! See the sticky at the beginning of the reloading section here. Up to 19 pages now.
Everyone needs a 25-20, some just don't know it.

jayhawkhunt - my plan was to shoot it, I am not a collector either. But with price of ammo for that gun think it will sit in safe until I decide to get into reloading or trade it for something I can shoot.

jimone - read through the sticky (most of it) lot of info there THANKS

I'm picking up a hint of wanting to get rid of it when that word "trade" come up. What would you rather have? I reload for an original and would love to have a CL. Testing the waters.

jimone - thats whats so great about this site. people like you! maybe stupid of me but I am going to take a rain check. I am going to keep the gun unfired right now to see what I decide to do with it. If I decide to shoot it I will definately pm you to see if offer still stands. THANKS

The 25-20 can be cheap to feed, once you have the brass. I shoot mine so much I switched to a Hornady progressive press just to keep it fed. I run hard cast bullets in mine. They shoot great and don't lead.

You can stop by and shoot mine if you're in the neighborhood, but there is 4' of snow on the range still. :p

Midway has brass, Remington and Speer bullets right now, grab 'em while you can.
