I bought a Marlin model 1894CB Cowboy Limited in 44Mag yesterday. It has a 20" octagon barrel, JM stamped, and has the safety on it. Serial# 9323####. Can anyone tell me what year this rifle was made. I know its not old because it has the safety but I just like to know what year my firearms were made. I am having trouble finding anything on the CB model. What does the CB mean?? Thanks for any info.

2007 (100-93=07). For guns made after '73 and before the move to Ilion, you subtract the first two digits of the first two digits of the s/n from 100. You can find a ton of info on how to date Marlins in our reference library.

CB=Cowboy. Typically the octagonal barreled Marlins are designated as CB models. Not always but, but generally speaking.
