Found a 1894CB .44Mag today. They want $599 for it. It is used and they didn't have any history on it. Stock seems loose. There was minor marking on receiver where the screws have been removed. Looked pretty good though. Couldn't check the bore. It is not a Remlin but like a dummy I forgot to write down the serial number so I could find the age. I really want one in .45 Colt but can't ind any. Does this sound like a good deal?

You snooze, you lose!!!!

My latest mental lapses in not opening my wallet quick enough are an Original Size VAQUERO 44 magnum with real stag grips for $450; a clean side by side Stevens 12 gauge for $250; an older 1894 44 with round barrel for $300; AND a LNIB factory re-barreled 1894 357 with a 24 inch octagon barrel for $650(bad original barrel.)

Someone else is liable to snap up the Cowboy while you're thinking about it. Pass if you REALLY want a 45 Colt...and be prepared to wait awhile. A DEAL may surface in the future...maybe not. Any Cowboy is hard to find...a 24 inch is really hard to get.

I brought it home. It is a 1894 Cowboy Limited .44 Mag. I pulled the bolt and did a quick clean. The bore looks great. I will break it down completely this week and give it a thorough cleaning. Thanks for the advice. I can't wait to take it shooting. I still want one in .45 but not it will be much easier to wait. ;D

FYI: Yesterday my wishlish email from GunsAmerica popped up with:

Marlin CB 1894 Limited 45 Colt NIB Octagon Barrel, Marbles Sight ....

Hope I'm not violating a posting rule by mentioning the name of an auction site.
