Today I stopped at a Gun&Pawn shop, they had an old 1894c 357 mag. It was an older model, it had the little hammer spur, like on my 80's 375 win. and just the bead front sight, not the hooded sight. Anyway it's in good condition,95%. The least he'll take for it is $450 out the door. Does this sound high? I was hoping to get it for $375,but he wouldn't budge. Any thoughts.

Doesn't sound too high, not if at 95% & clean inside. I would love to find one under 400, but be greatly surprised
to do so. For over 500 on the other hand, I would expect to find one most days. So at 450, I would be reasonably
happy unless I could not afford it and had to know I was missing the opportunity. ;)

Thats a better than new one! I like the dovetailed sights MUCH more than the ramp mounted ones. Its not a great price, but I sure wouldn't have left it there!

$50 is BS. There ain't no good reason to charge that sort of a fee.
It is what it is, I guess their feeling is theyre losing business & its still less than the markup on most of their merchandise. It dont bug me much, I'v got a LE friend with an FFL that does it for a 12 pack. I think its more BS that you need to use an FFL for something you can do face to face no questions asked. But hey, I still think its suposeda be a free country.

Came to be a little less than $700, with the peep sight included... Ladies and Gentlemen, I just bought my first Marlin...

Here's the thing... I might have paid too much, but I swear I called literally 70 gun stores and pawn shops in Georgia and eastern Alabama and NO ONE had one in stock, and no one knew when the last time they had seen one was. People LOVE this rifle. I actually went to a pretty big gun show here in Macon, and a guy laughed at me and said the only place I'd find it down here is on GunBroker, and I'd have to pay through the nose to get it. Turns out he was right on both counts.

Congrats man. Sometimes you have to crap or get off the pot. ;)

You only payed about $50 over what (I) would consider fair enough if I were looking for one. The bottom line in buying and selling is You payed exactly what its worth because its worth whatever you paid for it.

I'll do you one better than that. A new one out the door is around $600 and the XS sights $90, and slot blank $15. Given its a sharp "JM" already setup, you got a great deal. ;D
