I’m just starting to get into lever actions so I don’t have a very good idea of the value of certain guns. But, I have an opportunity to buy a 1894 .357 with the safety. Made in 1983, has the JM stamp. Looks to be in good condition. I know it’s not ideal to give gun value advise without pictures or handling the gun. But any idea on what the value could be? We threw around a couple numbers and he didn’t seem to offended with $700. Just wondering if that’s reasonable. Thanks!

If the wood and metal are in good shape and it cycles and shoots right then $700 is closer to stealing it than a fair price

$700 would be an excellent price around my area. It would go if in great condition for around $1000 around my neck of the woods. 357 is a very desirable lever gun

Correction. I paid $800 almost 8 years ago! I realized at the time that I paid a premium but wouldn't sell it now for double that.

I like 158grn sjsp the best. Higher velocity the better when buying factory. I found some just over 1500fps or so from a revolver. I’m sure they are best 2000 FPS from my carbine and the gun us a tack driver with them.
