Will let you know, just picked one up just before hunting season and did not have time to play with it to take it hunting. Will be doing so soon. I want to see what it likes in the form of reloads. Have a box of factory to try as well and a box of Cowboy loads to use in the Colt pistol I picked up to be it's companion in the field.
Hello Sure-Shot and 41 rem......Have had a .45" Colt Marlin 1894CB for two years or so now and it is an accurate rifle that has worked every time. I shoot cast bullets only, a 255gr. SAECO cowboy type over 13 gr. Blue Dot and a Lyman 337gr. gas check over 22gr. of H110 (stiff load). Both of these will stay under 2" at 100yds. Took me awhile to arrive at these loads, but they sure work on Cowboy Pistol Cartridge and the Lever Action Silhouette animals. In a word...I like it.
