What are the main differences between the 1892/92 and the 39? I realize that the main difference between the 1892 and 92 is the dom, but how does this rifle compare to the 39? I see that the early 39's have octagon barrels. Thanks in advance.

The main differences is that the 92 is not a takedown. It just has a sideplate that comes off. The are some internal differences , more so if you compare the early 1892 to the 39. The latest 92 , is pretty close, to the early 39's.

The 1897 and 97 are takedowns and are the same as the 39. The only thing is all of the 39's had pistol grip stock, 24" Oct , plain wood.
The 1897 could be special ordered with ether a straight stock or pistol. You could also special order other features, such as round or oct. barrel, 16"-28",wood grade, checkering, and engraving.
