I recently bought two 1892 22 rifles. That is missing the stocks and magazine tubes and a couple internal parts. I was thinking about swapping one to 32. Is there any differences between a 22 and 32. Rifle besides the mag tube and bolt
As you know, the Model 1892 was available in .22 LR or .32 caliber. Travlin mentioned the firing pin. The .32 caliber models could shoot either .32 rimfire or .32 centerfire but a different firing pin was required for each function. That's as deep as my knowledge on the subject goes. Let us know what you find out.
Sorry I was lumping all the bolt parts together. The bolt itself the firing pin and extractor. I was more or less wondering about the receiver itself. I’m assuming the hole for the mag tube would be bigger. But I’m not sure about other things such as barrel thread diameter or different machining inside the receiver for various part fit up
Most of the really important parts of these rifles are distinctly different between the two calibers. The receiver is most definitely different and that is the main part of the rifle. I am big into the 1892's in both calibers and use my .32's more than just about everyone. You will have to think of them as two entirely different models and repair them as such. The wood isn't easy, and is going to be the easiest part.
