Friday we hiked with full packs for 4.13 miles with 3,301 feet of elevation gain in 4 hours before setting up camp. 3,485 calories according to my Polar FT4. The next morning we got up, hiked 4.24 miles to the 11,918 foot summit which was an additional 1,177 foot elevation gain. Then we hiked the 8.37 miles back down for a total of 7.5 hours of hiking that today and 5,397 calories more! Over 8.5 miles of this hike were over 10,000 feet.

And yes, I about freaked out on the approach to the summit because of vertigo.

Hello,

Did you have bears where you tent camped? Bears in that area at all or only mountain lions?

Thanks for sharing your pretty pictures.

You always put up some good ones!

We have bears and mountain lions IN town and in the boonies here in Western Montana.

I know that you pack a gun and I do too.

Thanks again.
