There is a marlin 39D on an auction near me, but it has a loose fore arm, the rest of the gun is in good condition. Is there a good way to fix it, or should I pass on it and wait for one in better condition? I’m assuming a 39D fore arm would be next to impossible to find.

I bought a 39D a year or so ago and it has some light rust and the stock was very dry. I didn't have time to deal with it so I greased up the metal and put several coats of furniture oil on the wood. Looks some better but... I am thinking about paying someone to clean up and refinish the metal...
