    Apply a coat and allow it to soak in. After it dries, sand out the sags and runs and apply a second, thin, finish coat.

    Round off the ends on your drift pins. Spin them with a lathe, drill press, or drill motor and file a nice radius.

    I use a tapered bit to slightly enlarge the drift pin pilot hole (and clean the epoxy out of it). The taper holds the pin in place when gently tapped into the hole. It can be removed if necessary by tapping it out from the outside end of the hole. If a straight bit is all that is available, clean the epoxy out of the hole and glue your pin in place with a 5 minute epoxy.

    Clean the glue out of your screw hole, and screw the extension in place.
