    Winchester 94AE in 444 Marlin

I was able to pick up my ported 94AE in 444 Marlin today. I hate to say it but the Winnie feels real good in my hands. Canít wait to get out and shoot it. Itís topped with a 1.5x6 Bausch and Lomb scope. Didnít realize they made scopes. Hereís a few quick pics.

Very nice combo! Those B&L scopes were higher end optics back in the day. I have heard the Winnie 444s will let you know they are there after squeezing the trigger---LOL!

That's a great looking rig! I had an AE in 7-30 of the same vintage, with the CBS, and sold it. I really regret that decision, but I couldn't find or afford ammo during the pre-internet days and wasn't reloading at the time. I thought the quality of '94s during that era were on par with any.

Let us know how she does at the range.

Very nice indeed! My 1970 Marlin T4 has a significant amount of weight and doesn't really seem to kick so hard. I think you're going to be glad that has a ported barrel, but it might make it loud too. Either way, I'd a bought it! I like it quite well. Congratulations!

Very nice!! I have a Winchester 94 AE in 444 too but it is the non-ported rifle. Like all Winchester 94s, they handle well and the Big Bores like yours and mine are beautiful to look at as well. Regarding recoil, my experience is that all 444s let you know they are there. The fact that yours is ported should help.

For a lot of hunting, you won't need factory full-house loads. The 444 is very easy to handload. With lighter charges and bullets, you can still get the job done on whitetails etc., in thick timber or other shorter range situations.

Congratulations on your new 444. You can't have too many!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
