THE PURPOSE OF OUR NEW FORUM

I've been reading and attending a lot of what if the XXXX hits the fan scenarios.

#1. This is not a forum to discuss what gun, how much ammo we need, or where is the best spot to put a bullet. We already have that covered in the gun forums.

#2. It is my intent to get our members wisdom on making do, how to, just in case we need that knowledge.

#3. Gunjunkie says living off the land.

#4. Some of our expierience and methods need detail to them so please explain how things are done in your area. I'm looking to get as much imput here as I can, your knowledge is important and should be passed to as many as possible one idea you give may lift a lot of burdens on folks in need.

Ladies and Gents please start threads that are helpful for this purpose, we cannot let our knowledge go to waste.

In some geographic areas wild foods grow in abundence.

I just wandered down to this part of MO yesterday. This is a great idea. Makes me feel right at home. I'll be glad to hear others ideas and try to be helpful if I have any experience in a topic that might help.

I keep a 2 year supply of food. Not counting the deepfreeze full of beef, pork and venison. I can a lot of venison. I buy beef a 1/2 at a time(its a lot cheaper that way) and the pork a hog at a time. My sister raises the beef get hog from the neighber. Keep the canned gooods at the shop, cabin and at home. I live in a small town (250) so we dont have a lot of the problems of the larger towns . I keep at least 50,000 rounds of 22lr and more that enough reloading componets and ammo to last a couple of life times. I use mostly ruger #1's and marlin levers but do have 2 308 assult type rifles. and a 50bmg rifle

Sounds like your taking care of yourself. My next investment involves LED bulbs, inverter, battery and solar charger. I want to run my lighting and PCs off that just in case. With potential for a fridge and freezer. Though long term I rely more on dry goods. Fish and some game can be had fresh year round if necessary. Though canned and dried meats are viable, and I do dry up some jerked meat each year with the dehydrator.

For people who cant buy a lot survival food at one time you can pick up extra food when you shop. A large amount of things a long life if you read the package.
