That's a dandy! By the serial number, it's early and the way I like 700 actions. Sorry, 40-x action. Although, I think they all started out the same.

I had a Sako L461 with a Hart sporter weight barrel chambered in 6X45 that was a very accurate light weight rifle. Also had a barrel for the Sako chambered for a 25-223 Ackley Improved that was a great little cartridge for deer for some one who had a bad shoulder and couldn't stand recoil. Not much less velocity than a standard 250 Savage with bullets up to 87 gr.

Glad you got it finished. Hope it is the shooter you hoped for. Just another cartridge of the month. Won't do anything more or less than a few that have already come before it.

Thanks for resurrecting this thread. I just cannot say enough good things about this cartridge. Neck up my once fired 223 Rem cases and good to go. Just cannot beat the deal on Speer 75 grain HP's for $10 a hundred when bought in bulk. Going to use the Nosler 85 gr Partition for deer.

I have a 6x45 AR. I was intrigued by the cartridge for quite awhile, appreciating the extra power (over .223) and cheap reloading (using .223 brass). One day I ran across a sale on Midway of AR Stoner bbls, and with some trepidation, got one in stainless for under $200. It was a bit longer and heavier than I wanted, but I figured if it was a shooter, what the heck. After a little load workup, it was clear the barrel preferred middleweights, and I settled on a Sierra Gameking 85gr SP, which I also managed to get on sale in bulk.

Long story short, the little 6 is one of my better shooting ARs, with sub MOA groups pretty much standard. And it's also one of my cheapest "up-powered" ARs, much cheaper to shoot--and build--than my Grendel.

Great round and a good looking AR. I built it's little brother, the 6mmx222 on a Charles Daly mini Mauser action. Fun little gun and very accurate.

$800 shipped to my door. Cheapest custom rifle you can find, and I do mean this guy does fine work. I've got a custom bolt action in the works at the moment, and I already have $1000 into it and that just includes the stock, action, pad, and floor plate. Guessing another $1000 after the Lilja barrel and gunsmith magic. I'm just a blue collar guy, so it can be done. It just takes saving up for the next project. Good luck in your quest.
