Watched “Last Full Measure”...Warning: Brothers in Arms..prepare to cry

I watched the movie the other night. I was not born until 1968 so having had all my adult male paternal family members (father, all uncles (his brothers) and even my grandfather) having served in Vietnam Nam, it had a profound effect on me both as both a son and as a combat veteran of later actions.

Has been awhile since I had my lips quiver and I began sobbing and even had tears flow in more than one moment of the movie. I was glad I was alone in the dark living room sitting on the couch as I had lost all my macho composure. Now, I’m a pretty tough bird..but and I mean but...nothing gets to me more than unselfish sacrifice and unbridled patriotism for the country my family have called home for three (3) generations.

Anyways, you’ve been warned. It is one damn fine movie..even if the hero is...an Air Force guy!!

P.S. As a Jarhead, squid and Army dog, you know...I couldn’t resist. As a side note: Back in late 1995-96 between my enlistments with the Navy and the Army, I was pursued, and nearly signed on with the Chair Force as a PJ. They wanted me to just slide into being a Controller..no pipeline, all qualls already achieved, etc. but I wanted to do the PJ thing instead. Well, everything but my new wife was going my way and at the last moment...she bailed on the idea. I still wonder what could’ve been.

Hoo-ah PJ’s! Airborne docs that shoot back!

if you have ever looked up and saw this coming to your cook out when many hotdogs were coming at you right now, you would kiss the first airman you saw.

    Thank You for your service.

On my firestick I have a channel called "The War Channel" and it's one of my favorite channels to watch.

    Will watch that movie.

    Thanks!

Ahh..Napalm! Never seen it utilized in my time of service. I have thanked the Air Force more than once though, with A10 and Spectres rolling in! Amen brother! Not to mention, they provided us “mickeys”..radio transmitted crypto pushes when out and away.

I did compose and sing a little ditty about Napalm though when in the service. I frequently sang cadence’s on unit/group runs. As time and services I served in changed, I wasn’t even aloud to sing it anymore...the new Navy and Army wasn’t having my old Marine Corps cadence repeated...it was too offensive!

”Napalm sticks like glue, sticks to babies and will stick to you”...is, I’m pretty sure the verse I caught flak for! What can I say, I had a knack for making up Cadences that Marine Warriors would sing with relish...but...when I belted them out in the Navy and Army...my seniors, especially my officers went berserk! And, that is the rest of that story!

Oh yea, one more thing. Can’t fail to not mention and be thankful for the Air Force chow halls when I was able and their female service members were a very nice change of scenery too!

A-1E skyraider, had a long loaf time(stay around time), came in lower, slower and carried many different armerments and was able to put them on target better than most jets.
