    Thank you Vietnam vets!

30+ years ago, one of my closest friends was a Marine sniper who did two tours. A great martial artist and friend. Very smart, but a lost soul. Over the years, we lost touch. Last year, I decided to take up precision shooting. One thought lead to another and I resolved to find my old buddy and renew our friendship. It wasn't to be. Thanks to the Internet, I learned that he had been living only one state away, worked as a long haul trucker, and died in an accident two years back. A day to remember my old friend.

    Thanks for the thought Cajun.

    Seems like yesterday sometimes.

101st Airborne: Thua Thien and Quang Tri Provences.
    52d Infantry: Cu Chi Provence.

A numbered copy of this painting was my retirement gift to myself. For me, it says it all and I can still hear that Huey screaming to gain altitude.

Born in 71, you guys were my hero's growing up. Wished I had a dollar for everyone of them that shook my hand when I came home from Iraq and said "not going to happen again on my watch! Welcome home!" Love you guys and wished I could buy each and every one of you a coke, beer , coffee or whatever you drink! THANKS AND WELCOME HOME

Thank you all for your service. I grew up watching you brave men and women and always was thankful for your service. I was a sophomore in high school when the US started pulling out of Vietnam.

A tribute to my oldest brother, and my Father: both Vietnam Veterans. My brother served two tours: the 199th Infantry and the 1st Cav; my Father with the First Signal Brigade. Both survived, and both lost dear friends there.

It was Dad's second time going to war for our country, the first being WW-II. USMA Class of '41 - just in time for "the Big One"...He lost several fellow classmates - a bond difficult to describe from sharing four years of hell and brotherhood. North Africa, Sicily, and Italy was where he served. In RVN, it was predominantly in Long Binh, but he got out a bit and was even able to visit my brother in the field a few times, bringing beer and ice cream for my brother's troops (1st Cav).

While I will always associate my Dad with WW-II and the greatest generation, I'll always associate Vietnam with my oldest Brother.

They all deserved better returning home. I thank God America - as a nation - finally gives them the respect they are due.

    Unfortunately, it may not last.

Hand salute to all who served.

It seemed it too too long to get here:

"Vietnam War Veterans Day was first observed as a one-time occasion on March 29, 2012, when President Barack Obama issued a proclamation calling on “all Americans to observe this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.”The day was then introduced as an annual event in 2017 when President Donald Trump signed the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017." https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays...r-veterans-day
