Two Aboard a One Man Kayak

This guy hitched a ride as I was working on rainbows for supper at 9500' between Gunnison, Crested Butte, and Aspen.

This particular shot was from a couple of summers ago(I know by the paddle!), but we've spent many Augusts since the mid 60's just off the Timberline Trail escaping the rotten midwest humidity.
No radio reception, pre-cell phone.....Nixon resigned during one trip and we didn't know it for 8 days.
Sorry, not sure what type of bird it is- I bet someone on here could tell though.

Cool photo! A day on the water is always better with a friend along.

I’d rather have squab than fish for dinner, anyway.

I love that area of Colorado!

Can't make it out with my old eyes. What kind of bird?
