the good ole days when you could ride your bike to the store for a box of 22's for 75 cents and with left over 25 get a bag of jawbreakers and when you get home gramma would remind us to hit the squirrel or rabbit in the head so she could cook it for supper

[QUOTE=rob42049;7983101]Here's Fred and Barney(in black and white) having a Winston while Betty and Wilma mow the lawn. You couldn't even put this on TV today in a nostalgia program. The militant chicks would slit your throat for showing housewives mowing the lawn. There'd be a lot of shrill female screeching to make sure you pay dearly for your mysogyny.

I have two great grandsons ... 3 years old and 2 months old. Unfortunately for them, "these" will probably be their "good old days".

1958 must have been a good crop of wheat. Dad bought a new Chevy station wagon and a TV set.

We could get two channels -- 6am farm news until 10 pm local news.

IIRC Gunsmoke came on at the same time as Lawrence Welk, momma's favorite program

But we still listened to the radio on snowy mornings to see if school was closed.

In 1958 me, bro & sis all had the measles. They had us in darkened rooms for what seemed like forever. That's back when Doc made house calls.
