    Number engraved on bolt?

Does anyone know what the number engraved on the bolt of the MR-7 is? Probably a no brainier answer but I'm just not educated on it yet. Thanks in advance!

Compare it to the rifle serial number. It may be a portion of the rifle serial.

Bolts are often marked during the build process to keep critical fitting parts together. The marked number is usually part of the serial number-3 or 4 digits-- so that the bolt can follow the receiver through the assembly process. It is probably marked after ensuring that it fits, functions, and headspaces as intended in that particular receiver.

Correct information, I just looked at mine and the bolt numbers are the same as the last 3 numbers of the serial number, same as my pre '64 model 70.

Thanks everyone, that was it! The 3 numbers engraved in the bolt match the last 3 of the serial #.
