    first gun a marlin

besides me I am sure a bunch of us got a Marlin as a first gun. Mine was a 80c I got for Christmas, must of been 1960 give or take a year. a lot of ammo went thru that gun. still have it, still shoot it. it was soon followed by a 336 in 35rem and a bolt action shotgun. anyhow the 80c is a great gun, well made, walnut and steel.

It wasn't a my first firearm, that was a Savage tube fed .22 semi-auto, but my first real deer rifle was a 1952 336 SC waffletop that my father purchased off a co-worker for $50. I kind of wish now that it had been a model 60 instead of the savage though.

My first "real" gun was a Stevens bolt action .410, and I still have it. To this day, the local grey squirrel community still fears the "death ray" and run for cover if I just think of taking it outside the house. My 2nd gun was a Marlin 336 30-30 which I also still have.

My first was a Red Rider when I was about 4-5 then an old Springfield single shot 22. The Rider did not last long as a couple of boys 2 yrs older than me went to thumping on me , so I went all Daniel Boone on them, I was shootin they was skooten.
What this country needs is a department of common sense! The tree of liberty would be a great place for hang mans ropes!
