Are Marlin and Glenfield 25’s the same?

I know both are made by Marlin, but what are the differences?

The 25N is different than the original 25, not sure if the original 25 was ever sold under the Marlin name.. The 25N came after and was a Marlin only.
I know the 25N uses a different magazine. I have one of each model.

Marlin N means pressed checkering, etc. The Ns use the newer magazine. Not sure about the rest.

Isn't the Glenfield 25 the same as a Marlin 80?

Here are the stamping from both 25’s. Neither rifle has any checkering on stock, but the Glenfield does have sling mounts. Glenfield 25 was manufactured in 1973, Marlin 25 in 1986.

The Glenfield name was dropped in 1982 so Marlin continued to make it with their name on it after 82 and until they switched to the 25N
