    Question 981t mounting a scope

I'm picking up a used 981t wednesday. I have a Nikon Rimfire II Prostaff scope I'd like to mount on it. I plan to use #12 weaver bases, but I'm not sure what height scope ring to use that will allow me to keep the rear iron sight intact, and pull the bolt for cleaning.
I was looking at the Weaver quadlocks (mostly because they are cheap). Will medium or high work? Or any other suggestions?

The set-up for my 981t uses "low" Leupold QRW 1" quick release rings on top of a DIP (Diversified Innovative Products) scope base. These are Weaver-type products that create a very stable set-up. As you can see, the rear buck horn site just clears the front scope objective. Scope is a Weaver 3-9x32 Classic Rimfire AO.

    Good luck with your project.

Looks like a stock off of a 783?

It's either a 781 or 783...got it years ago from Ebay. I like the added weight as opposed to the synthetic factory stock.

Did you have to do much fitting to the stock?

Atomicsmurf a lot depends on where the objective lens ends up on your rifle and the dia. of it. If it is before or after your rear sight you can go with lower rings however if it needs to clear you may have to go medium.

Sir that is a FANTASTIC swap! That stock looks so beautiful I'd be scared to take it out and shoot it! Very very well done and it is a pleasure to see work like this.

Thanks for the kind remarks...it was a fun project and is great fun to shoot. Now we need to find an original walnut stock for Atomicsmurf.
