Stopped at a pawn shop today

Been to this one before and found a few good things. looking at the gun case in the back therein the back of the case, a 22 bolt action, it looks like a Marlin. My left eye starts to twitch, I get a weird feeling in my feet, I start to drool, and I start involuntarily reaching for my wallet. Wait, wait , wait, I need to inspect it first. The guy gets it out and sure enough, its a Marlin, well a Ranger 103, but made by Marlin. But then I start to notice problems the stock is dark (old varnish refinish), there's a crack in the trigger guard, and the bore is so dirty I really cant see the rifling, and the spring in the mag. is shot. but the big one, the knob on the back of the bolt is gone and there's a piece of the outer bolt casing at the back broken off. ( I don't know how this could happen.) and the trigger only seems to reset sometimes. This thing is in very bad shape!! But I have that soft spot in my heart, and my skull, for old .22s, especially Marlins that need some love.
I finally look at the price, HOLY BUCKETS! I don't know what they have been smoking or what sunshine got blown up their skirts, but they have this thing priced at $130 Dollars! American! And they are serious about it! I try to have a talk with the Manager, try to tell him that this MIGHT be worth that IF it was in a heck of a lot better condition, AND Functional. This on is not much better than a parts gun.
He offers to drop the price $15, ***! NOT to $15 but $15 off. And cover tax, so $115 OTD! What A Deal!!
I had to walk away, This poor old abused, girl went back in the case.
Someone will buy it, MAYBE, but not me.

I have walked away from more old ragged girls and derelicts than I care to remember. Sometimes it is better just to move along.

Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape.

Hard to hand a gun back and walk away. You made a good choice though.

Don't blame you as I think the price was about right if it was in good condition. Way to high for the rifle you described though in my opinion.

You got to walk when the deal isnt right. There's no sense overpaying when an owner decides they want to collect instead of sell

Yeah, and I've brought home a few guns that should have stayed right where they were, too.
