Looking to get a marlin model 60

Hey I'm new to this forum. Ive always wanted to get a marlin model 60 but for some reason no one near me has one in stock now i found a new one for $203 out the door. I know the new model 60s apparently arent as good as the old ones but whats the consensus on the new marlins? My FFL advised me against it as he got one that always jammed. is $203 out the door a good price for a new model 60? Thanks everyone and hope your Thanks givings were good

I've got a few Model 60's, but have never picked up a new Remington made one... What part of the world you in? Gunbroker may be worth a try...

I've seen very nice used one's for $100 and a friend of mine picked up a mint condition model 60 for just that at a local pawn shop.

Welcome from the marshes of south Louisiana.

Search gun shops, pawn shops and try gunbroker for a used Marlin. I have all Glenfields/Marlin model 60's oldest is a 1969 model.

    Good luck in your search.

    Welcome from Houston...
If you're ok with a used gun possibly with some character, check all your local pawnshops. Go to the next town and check those pawnshops. Take a road trip and check every pawnshop you pass. You'll find them, they're out there. I'm not knocking the new ones, but I prefer the 7 year span from 1984 to 1990, and you may find a few mid 90's with these features.
    22" barrel instead of 19".
18 round tube instead of 14 rounds.
And they will all have the "Last Shot Hold Open" feature. The earlier models didn't.
Some time after 1990 the tube was shortened to 14 rounds, because of New Jersey.
In 2003 the barrel was shortened to 19" to match the length of the tube.
Like i said I'm not knocking the new ones, I just like the older ones better.
My boys and I have an '85, '86 and '90.
So check the serial numbers for first 2 digits of 10 to 16.
    Good luck.

Try the pawn shops in your area. Around here, just about every pawn shop has one or two on hand almost all the time. There are also gun shows. Prices range from $100-$175 around here. Good luck in your search.

Walmart usually has new stainless ones for something like $229, personally I like the old one I have that was something like $60 with a cracked stock, works perfect, and recently got a new walnut stock for it from numrich for $45, never really was interested in a model 60 but at the price I paid I could not pass it up.
