What kind of pattern at distances are you getting from that 410? You reload the shells, or got a factory type it likes?

100_0078.JPGIf you want to be a bit snobbish, this was my preferred way to get greys. Built the rifle also. Lots of times I hunted similar to deer hunting and would sit a while and get them while they were coming out.

that's way cool man...but i don't have the patience to sit and wait.
thats why i run a dog.
one reason i don't care as much for deer hunting as i used to.

my dad was a still hunter.
    used a pump winchester 22.
he taught me that way years ago.
but i got into running dogs later on and the first
time i ever went i was hooked.

northmn - Now that's good for a hearty laugh! My buddies from Grand Rapids are always giving me guff about our lack of trees - and now I'm done with it!! Sure we have trees - satellite imagery has proven it to be true! These photographs have verified the presence of at least 13 trees in the state! Fortunately I landed one of those girls hiding behind one of those trees.

navajo - I'm liking the idea of hunting squirrels with a dog! Great pics. Looks to me like I might have an excuse to get another dog. I doubt if I could get my Springer Spaniel to hunt and retrieve squirrels - she hates squirrels and would rip them to shreds before I ever got one into my hand. I'll save her for pheasants. Now - how to sneak another dog into the house... Probably not as easy as sneaking in another rifle..... Remember to save those squirrel tails!!!

The dog i use is a 5 yr old male JR Terrier mix.
He was a natural squirrel dog, but getting him to retrieve
    took awhile.
I got him to do it by carrying treats in my vest.
Now i just got the squirrel when he brings it to me and
give him the heart and liver.

yes i am saving them tails...might not do much but buy me
a box of shells, maybe two but the idea they aint wasted is
    the main deal.
hell i'd send em to them folks for free.
Funny thing is, and i guess this is because i'm from he south
maybe....I didn't even know they made fishing lures from
    squirrel hair.
I wish i had all of them i ever threw out or used to train dogs
    with...
