    New 1894 .44mag & Skinner Express

This model has the 20" round barrel and I mounted the Express on it today. I folded down the stock sight leaf and removed the front sight hood. With the aperture all the way down to the lowest setting I'm shooting 1" high at 25 yards. Not bad for a stock front sight. I was covering the dot but with a 6 o'clock hold I might be right on. 100 yards might be 2 or 3" high but I'll have to wait for the 3 feet of snow to melt out in my field to get there. I think I'll run the numbers through my ballistic calculator to see if that rule applies to a 240gr bullet with hardly any BC and moving rather slow.

I'm happy that there is a good chance I won't need a taller front sight!

Awesome news! I've yet to add the Skinner peep to mine but will be in the future.

Just so you know, the Express sits a tiny bit lower than the original of which every bit helps with the stock front sight.

Looking good!!! Thank you for shooting with the factory front sight first. That puts you leaps and bounds ahead in the process.

If we can be more help please email us or call 406-745-4570

    Happy Shooting!
