Thumbs down Cory Booker Out-Lefts the Rest on Gun Control

Another hard-left presidential candidate has announced a number of whacky gun control measures. Cory Booker, former virtue signaling mayor of Newark and boyfriend of radical leftist actress and activist Rosario Dawson, has joined another non-viable candidate, Eric Swalwell, in setting gun control as a major platform agenda. - Brent Smith

Swalwell wishes to ban, “hand-held weapons of war. We should ban possession of military-style semiautomatic assault weapons, we should buy back such weapons from all who choose to abide by the law, and we should criminally prosecute any who choose to defy it by keeping their weapons.” He also claims that, “Our courts haven’t found a constitutional right to have assault weapons, anyway.” ...

That was the goal all along. Undermine social institutions until they collapse, then ride in and claim that The Great Leader is here to save us, so they can create their communist utopia.

Pretty much Communism 101. But the plans all got out of sync when those pesky kids went and elected Trump; Americans were supposed to be disarmed before the war, but now the left are running out of time.

It is amazing how all the demos are trying to out give (handouts free college) or out take (ban all guns) the others. If I did not know better I would say trump is paying them to spout this ridiculous stuff, makes him look pretty dang good to anyone not a lunatic.

Who defines an assault weapon? The AR type rifles are not Assualt Rifles unless they are full auto capable. I can guess if laws of this type ever were passed the ban would spread clear to 10/22 Rugers. I want to see the buy back plan. Do you think if this ever passed they would pay full value? They aren't going to be paying value they will pay a flat rate. Who knows what that will be, $5 maybe. Once the "assault rifles" are turned in the next series of mass murders will be done with some other type of gun and they will go after them.
In 1776 an assault gun was a flintlock musket. Just the label Assault leaves the Liberals to much wiggle room. We know there is no difference between a semi hunting rifle and an AR. The Libs know it too and will include them once they get power.

Anyone with a brain knows that the agenda of the Dems can't be paid for. Everything they are promising if they took complete power tomarrow would collapse before it got started. They know this and have no intention of providing what they promise. Their agenda is to throw out bait for targeted voting blocks. Like reparations, they have the uneducated inner city AfroAmericans believing they are going to get a big govt check. The Snow Flakes think they are going to be forgiven on Student loans. The list goes on with no practical way to pay for any of it. It is all smoke for the useful idiots. At the same time they are premoting open borders and govt entitlements for the millions of illegals. Their whole agenda is a lie to gain power. The useful idiots that swallow this stuff tend to be the least productive and the most troublesome segment of the population. They will be the first to get thrown under the bus if Liberal Left ever gets power. The useful idiots think all this stuff is going to be guaranteed them by the constitution. They are to dumb to realize once Left is in power they will have to destroy constitutional rights. The Snow Flake college kids think in same terms and are going to get a rude awakening if their wish comes true. I think the Left is pushing for violence to erupt because in chaos is where they have historically made gains.

Unless I am mistaken, the word "assault" is a verb--not a noun. Therefore, ANY gun used in an offensive manner could be considered an "assault weapon". But then so could a rock, brick, stick, baseball bat, knife, lawnmower, belt, shoe, flower pot, dishes, car, truck, or anything else. Seems to me the 747s used on 9/11 could also be considered "assault weapons".

More re-interpretation of the constitution broadcast as fact, and the ignorant will run off and live their lives by it. Do not underestimate the power of the misinformed, ignorant voter. These people are playing to voters who think the constitution is nothing more than a historical document, constitutional rights are based on what feels "right," and "legal" is whatever government says.

As to who will define "assault weapon," well, the government will, of course. Just look at North Idaho Shooter's post and you can see the opportunity for including any type of weapon that could be used to carry out an "assault" being twisted to cover anything but single shot firearms. Should be all anyone who understand the 2A needs to know.

This person wants to be President, but he doesn't understand a very simple statement?

"He also claims that, “Our courts haven’t found a constitutional right to have assault weapons, anyway.” ...

No court needs to find on the constitutionality of "assault weapons", because the constitution makes no mention of them. It does however say that the right to keep and bear ARMS shall not be infringed. Does he not understand the meaning of the word ARMS? No, I didn't think so!

The founders had such a good grasp of the language, fortunately.
