    Kimber 82 Bolt Stop

A good friend's Kimber 82's bolt stop fractured years ago, and several replacements through the years failed as well. He says Kimber sent him the last one available and it shortly failed as all the others. Guns were discontinued, Gun Parts bought up the inventory which contained no bolt stops. He advises that a huge percentage failed and these wonderfully crafted guns out there are now are single shots.

Any input helps. I'm considering making them of tempered S7 tool with no sharp radius's steel which is material known to be impact resistant. I have a broken match of 2 pieces to work with and possibly access to scanners and a metal printer to develop it. I don't want to join a rim fire forum for only this reason.

You would get more response on Rimfire Central forum. They have a Kimber forum with some very knowledgeable guys on Kimbers. I am guessing your talking about a Kimber of Oregon Model 82. The 82 is a rimfire and model 84 is centerfire. Also there are different companies of Kimber all are a little different. Kimber of Oregon, Kimber of America, and Kimber of NewYork.

This is an original Kimber from the 80's. The owner, a friend of mine, has gone through at least 6 of these ejector? bolt stops that fracture from the impact of the bolt string them. Says he got the last part Kimber had and it promptly broke. Model 82 was discontinued during his earlier breakages.
