    Savage Scope Rings

I am looking at an older Savage model 10 with a walnut stock in 30-06. It has a cheep scope that might have come with the gun. The shop owner says that the rings are Savage but I didn't see any markings.

My question is are these rings any good. They are vertically split and I believe they are steel. I do no have any experience with these type of rings and would like some opinions.

I have nothing against verticaly split rings in general. I have several Tally's, Warne, and Leupold rings made like that. They are top notch.

I don't remember seeing Savage branded rings of any sort, but the did sell a bunch of 110s with a scope package. I'd guess they outsourced the rings like they did the scopes. If you get the rifle it's easy enough to check that the rings are mounted correctly.
