    Looks like time

Found out today from HR that I am grandfathered in my current fairly specialised engineering field. Not qualified to cross.

I guess when I was 19, I picked the wrong major, at the wrong school. I'm not currently working in my major field, but being a graduate of Navy Nuclear Power School, retired LCDR, 20 years at this company and taking on several stalled or "impossible projects and being successful doesn't seem to matter.

I turn 67 in August and see myself retired by the end of the year.

Worked since I was 18, how is it on the other side?

It's been 4 years since I retired. Never missed it a minute. Miss some of the coworkers, a little.

I retired last July. Since then I have gained 25 pounds and am stir crazy as hell. I need to get some things figured out. I'm just not a disciplined retiree. I just got my reloading station set up again after a three year hiatus, so there's that. I'm gonna take a part time job at Home Depot til hunting season rolls around. Maybe I'll get it figured out by then. Good luck with yours.

Loving every minute of being retired! No more twelve hour shifts! No more all night swing shifts! Doing what comes natural to a Post Hole Digger education! Fixing and selling those machines that adds weight to you! The phone don't stop ringing at times! Baton Rouge Saturday to fix three drink machines, then right back Tuesday hauling a drink and snack I have sold. Love meeting all the new people and the sights I get to see! No stress!

I am 66 and have been retired for 18 months. I don't like being old but I am in good health. When I had my physical, I was asked about my mental health. I told the doctor that I thought this is the happiest time of my life. I am not wealthy but have enough to do what I like. The wife and I are going on some nice vacations. I can get out and shoot/hunt as much as I want. Last fall I got out in the woods with a rifle three or four days a week. There is lots to do on the farm and I like farming a lot. When you are retired you can take the time to do things the way YOU want to. No more PITA employees. No more PITA bosses with stupid and unrealistic deadlines.
