This morning's 4.5 mile walk with Maverick along the Columbia River. Colors don't rival those found back east, but not too shabby:

I've done no actual hunt training with him yet - still working on basic obedience training.

But when we're walking anywhere outside of city limits - that dog is in full bore HUNT MODE!

Am hoping to hunt chukar, pheasant and other upland game birds with him later this season.

Yes - he's been to the gun club with me where he can hear shooting nearby, and while I've been shooting my rifle or handgun too. He's fine around the gunshots. Whew!

Nice walk this morning, cool temperatures, and almost fell over, spotted a deer way off under a oak tree. Took a bunch of pictures, don't know if you will spot him.

My wife and I went together today - she's awfully good at spotting game animals. She found 'em, and I got close and took some photos:

It was a good outing. I'll likely never draw a bighorn tag, but if I did, pretty sure I could get one of 'em with my rifle!
