    Never Do It This Way

A few years ago I bought a contractor grade Echo backpack blower. An hour with this thing will wear a guy out. If the Lilliputians ever come to get me, they will go down fast. For leaves, nothing beats it. I have been using it to take snow off the driveway. We have service that comes out but for little stuff, Echo and me. Yesterday I got home an there was about an inch of powder. Fired up the backpack and in several minutes had her done. We have a pretty long drive. The last 30 feet has a small decline to the street. That's when it happened. We have had some warm weather which left a sheet of ice on the hill. I went down, backpack took the first hit, but my head took a big time whack. Opened the old skin right up. The blower was still ripping out at full blast. I am sure it was comic. Got it off and limped into the house. My wife is a retired trauma nurse. These ladies take no crap. In truth, lots of ER docs cut them a wide swath. My feeling was to just let her heal. Charge Nurse Overrule. Off we go to her old ER. I now have six staples and my right pectoral muscle feels like Ali came back for five or six whacks. Next time, I will wear a cycle helmet and shove in my mouthpiece. The doc was very interested in my backpack blower method. I will bet my life he is going to use his backpack blower this winter. Be warned: an ER will give you a lousy shampoo and no conditioner.

    Ouch!

More evidence for my correct decision to not live there.

Glad you're ok (a couple of staples is better than a broken limb). Funny how women overrule us when we're hurt. lol Especially when your wife is a retired trauma nurse.

Hair conditioner? I never use conditioner. lol

glad I live in the south and this snow stuff is not a problem. I used to have a backpack blower for leaves, but 2 acres of trees produces too many leaves for the blower.. first use I blew leaves in a pile and I swear it was about a 1/4 acre and 15 ft high. then i could not figger out what to do with them so I gave the blower away and let mother nature blow them into my neighbors yard

Glad that’s all that happened. My buddies Dad fell shoveling snow a couple of years back and broke his hip. He couldn’t crawl back up the driveway and laid there for 2 hours before someone drove by and saw him. It was also 3:30am when he was shoveling.

Man I'm glad you are okay. Sold my snowblower when I moved down here and the only time I fire up the blower is to push the leaves into a burn pile.

There are only 2 houses on my road. No school kids so I'm at end of plow list. The last two years I don't bother to shovel till plow comes through. If it's deep enough they need plow, it's deep enough for me to stay home. When I was younger there were always kids to hire
to shovel snow. Not now they must get snow stamps to support their habits.
