1926 39 latch magazine to pin magazine conversion?

I have an old (very poor) 1926-ish Marlin 39 24" octagonal barrel with a latch type magazine. Mag was twisted into 2 pieces when I bought it and stuffed into the outer tube - love those "honest internet sellers...
Sent the gun to a recommended smith 3 years ago with the understanding that he would find a replacement and repair, refinish and re-blue the gun when he found a part. Looks like it is just not going to happen so... I am exploring the possibility of installing a later 39 pin type magazine on the gun. My question is: Has anyone done this modification and what was the outcome? Thanks for your thoughts.

Encouraging.... To the outer tube or to the inside "pusher/follower?" piece?

I put the Wisner kit in one, repaired a .32 original, and am working on another. 22

I have a later 39A tube assembly. I think I will attempt to use it before I go to the Brownells kit. Just putting the hairy eyeball to it I can't see how it would be to difficult.... Of course that type of thinking has proven wrong on more than one occasion.

The newer design with a tube inside of a solid tube is so much easier to make work. It is amazing that the original works as well as it does so many dimensions have to be nearly perfect.
